Genital Wart Symptom

Genital wart or anal wart is also called Condyloma. These non-cancerous growths are found in the genital and rectal area in both men and women. Caused by human wart virus, often due to lack of any genital wart symptom, it is difficult to detect this infection.

As per its name, genital wart is known to target the moist tissues of the genital region. In appearance, genital wart is a yellow, brown, or skin-colored bump. It can grow as an individual bump or in clusters with a cauliflower like look. Since, some genital warts can be very small (1mm -2mm in diameter) genital wart symptoms may not exist.

Itching or burning sensation in the genital area
Much discomfort, pain or bleeding with intercourse
Abnormal bleeding from the vagina after intercourse
Increased wetness or moisture in the growth infected areas

Often it is difficult to suspect a genital wart infection. Why? Because there are no genital wart symptoms that give them away; in some other cases, genital wart symptoms are non-existent as the warts, themselves, may be very small and flat in appearance and undetectable by the naked eye. In absence of genital wart symptoms, the doctors apply acetic acid solution to the genitals to highlight the warts. The doctor further checks the growth of the warts with the help of a special microscope called "Colposcope."

As mentioned earlier, most of the times, there are no genital wart symptoms. Perhaps, that is why an infected person can pass the disease to another person while being completely ignorant about his/her conditions.

However, some people do acquire visible genital warts.

How Long Until Genital Wart Symptoms Can Be Seen?

Anyone who has been exposed to HPV may observe genital warts appearing anytime form a number of weeks to a number of months after being exposed to it. Many times, genital warts symptoms may take even longer to show themselves. This is because the HPV can live under the epidermal layer for a very long time without causing any alarming genital wart symptoms.

If you are sexual very active, then you must visit your doctor or gynecologist for regular medical checkups. Also keep an eye for bumps or other genital wart symptoms in the genital area.
