Warts are a common infection in those who are sexually more active and have multiple sex partners some of whom may be infected with warts. There are over 100+ types of HPVs. Some are harmless, while others are harmful. These DNA viruses are identified by numbers and each number is either associated with a type of wart or a specific location. The types of wart associated with HPV Type 16 and 18 are known to be dangerous and can develop cervical cancer in some rare cases. Most types of wart are transmitted by skin-to-skin-contact. However, types of wart such as plantar warts can be transferred due to damp or wet floors. Transmission of warts is dependent on the immunity and susceptibility level in an individual. Out of the various types of wart, genital warts are usually one of the most common from of sexually transmitted diseases. But genital wart in children is often a sign of sexual abuse. The incubation period of most types of wart can be from several months to several months. The Various Types of Wart:Common Wart or Verruca Vulgaris: Appear as thick bumps called papule or plaque. Either brown or flesh-colored, they are usually found on the face of women and can spread quite easily by the act of shaving. Plantar Warts or Foot Warts: These types of wart are found on the soles of the feet and are often confused with calluses or foot corns. Typically, foot warts are characterized by thrombosis in blood vessels which leads to black spots. Painful if developed in areas that bear weight, they tend to spread over large surface. Unlike other types of warts, plantar warts grow inwards rather than outwards. Genital Warts: These types of wart have many appearances and populate the genital areas in both children and adults. Sizes and structures vary. Some of the places that this type of wart can be transmitted to, include vulva, vagina, anus, between the vagina and the rectum in females, and the penis, penis shaft, and anus in men. |
