What Is Vaginal Wart?

A vaginal wart is an infection caused by a mostly harmless virus called the human papilloma virus (HPV). A vaginal wart is also called genital wart and venereal wart. Vaginal warts are benign tumors on the epidermis of the skin. Vaginal wart is found woman’s genital area such as vulva, inside and outside of the vagina, cervix etc.

What Are The Causes Of Vaginal Wart In Women?

The single most common cause for vaginal wart is having sex with an individual who is infected with HPV. Vaginal wart can be acquired if having oral sex, anal sex, or having sex with multiple partners some of whom may be HPV infected. Skin-to-skin contact with an HPV infected individual is another cause of vaginal wart.

The good news is that many women recover from vaginal wart infection with no health issues at all.

How Is Vaginal Wart Treated?

The type of vaginal wart treatment you need is based on the size of the vaginal wart. Small warts can be treated with cream, while larger warts need to be frozen off or surgically removed. Chances of reoccurrence are high as the HPV remains inside the skin.
